Possibilities of identification of essential oils in environmental matrixes
Plačková, Lucie ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (referee) ; Vávrová, Milada (advisor)
Contained substances type of essentials oils in samples of phytogenic are characterized in this thesis, namely in tree needles and in moss, theirs chemical fission, description effects on human health and theirs use in medicine. Thesis describes method of isolation and identification of essentials oils from plants. For isolation of essentials oils there are used methods solvent extraction and solid phase microextraction (SPME) and steam distillation, for identification there are thin layer chromatography (TLC) and gas chromatography (GC/MS).

In the bachelor thesis, herbal teas, the main components of which are St. John's Wort and Lemon balm, were analyzed. The physiological properties, the chemical composition and the influence on human health were monitored. Thesis deals method of isolation and identification of essentials oils from out of selected teas to calm the nervous system. For isolation of essentials oils there are used methods solvent extraction, solid phase microextraction (SPME) and steam distillation, for identification there is gas chromatography (GC/MS). Isolation methods for obtaining essential oils from plant matrices were assessed and the most appropriate isolation techniques was determined by solid phase microextraction (SPME)
Koření z čeledi miříkovitých a jejich využití v potravinářském průmyslu
Halodová, Tereza
The diploma thesis "Spices of the Apiaceae Family and Their Use in the Food Processing Industry" focuses on the characteristics of medicinal, aromatic, and spice herbs. The the-sis examines the legislation related to spices, plant substances, and their use in the food processing industry, particularly in the production of essential oils. The thesis also describes the methods of essential oil extraction and the norms for determining their con-tent. The thesis provides a detailed description of the Apiaceae family, which includes significant plant species used as spices. The practical part of the thesis includes a compa-rison and analysis of specific spices from the Apiaceae family, such as Anise, Fennel, Caraway, Dill, and Coriander. The content of essential oils in these spices was determined using the steam distillation method (based on Český lékopis 2017). Samples of the spices were obtained from four different manufacturers. The discovered content of essential oils ranged from 0.66 ml/100 g to 5.26 ml/100 g.
Variabilita obsahu a složení silic u vybraných druhů koření (Ocimum basillicum L., Satureja hortensis L. a Majorana hortensis Moench.)
Benešová, Jana
The thesis Variability and composition of essential oil content of selected spices (Oci-mum basillicum L., Satureja hortensis L. and Majorana hortensis Moench.) Deals with plant species of whose main ingredient is oil. There is described a process for the isola-tion of essential oils from plants, individual components of essential oils, their variability and ways of using. Selected representatives of the so called green spices belong to the mint family (Lamiaceae), whose typical feature is very high content of essential oils. In the practical part were evaluated following species: basil (Ocimum basilicum), sum-mer savory (Satureja hortensis L.) and marjoram (Origanum majorana syn. Majorana hortensis). Essential oil content was determined in each type, by steam distillation and then the composition of essential oils was found by gas chromatography.
